FlightDeck

Map

I have departed, but the miniature airplane did not move.

For FlightGauge to show your aircraft's location, the app requires a strong and continuous GPS signal. If the signal is insufficient for FlightGauge to determine your location, it will display the miniature airplane at the last known location.

In most cases, this will not affect the app’s ability to identify and successfully log a flight upon arrival at the destination airport.

The track on the map shows erratic or jagged segments.

For FlightGauge to show your track, the app requires a strong and continuous GPS signal. If the signal drops, FlightGauge will continue drawing your track once the signal has been restored. It will bridge any flight portions with signal discontinuities by connecting them with a straight line which occasionally looks jagged or out of place.

Sometimes FlightGauge picks up erroneous rouge locations and draws them on the map. In most cases, neither occurrence will affect the app’s ability to identify and successfully log a flight upon arrival at the destination airport.

Weather overlays are not showing.

You need an active internet connection for the radar or satellite overlays to display. Without connectivity, the app will show the last cached weather image.

Overlays are only cached if they are selected with an internet connection. If you select an overlay mid-flight for the first time since launching the app, FlightGauge has no previous weather data.

Status

I took off, but the status indicator shows On The Ground.

The status indicator can show three different states:

  • Departed- After an initial takeoff was detected, the indicator will show that you have departed.
  • En route- 15 minutes after departure, the indicator will switch to show you en route.
  • On The Ground- After a landing was detected, the status indicator will show that you are on the ground. This indication will also be shown whenever the app cannot longer verify that you are in flight.

For the status indicator to show the correct phase of flight, the app requires a good and continuous GPS signal. However, intermittent signal loss while en route typically does not affect the detection of departure or arrival airports. By design, the app will log flights correctly as long as sufficient GPS signal strength is available at the departure and arrival airports.

I arrived, but FlightGauge is showing the wrong departure or arrival airport.

If FlightGauge has detected the wrong departure or arrival airport, you can either edit the flight as soon as it is detected or delete the flight and re-add it using the QuickAdd method.

METAR

No Station Near By

FlightGauge will obtain weather information for the airport that is closest to your position.

The No Station Near By message will appear if FlightGauge cannot determine your position or if there are no airports within a 20-mile radius of your position.

No Internet Connection

To reduce the strain on the public servers that provide the weather data, we are limiting the number of weather queries.

If you did not have an internet connection when the app tried to obtain the weather, this message will remain until the next query. Once you have Internet Service, allow for a few minutes, and the METAR data should appear.

Recent Flights

What does the Amber Triangle Alert mean?

The Recent Flights tab shows the last three completed flights and their status.

  • Green- Approved flight which has been added to your logbook.
  • Amber- Pending Flight that requires approval before being added to your logbook.
  • Red- Deleted flight. (Will be displayed only if Show Deleted Flights option selected under settings)
  • Blue- Possible Commute flight between base and home airport.

Be sure to approve flights and assign landing credit periodically to commit them to your logbook. Only approved flights will be accounted in flight totals and show proper landing credit.

Currency and My Stack

One of my currency events shows expired. How can I make changes or updates?

  • Landings- Landings will be automatically updated as soon as you approve a flight for which you have conducted a landing.
  • Medical- Providing the date of your last medical exam is optional and can be updated under your profile.
  • Line Check- If you are a captain and require an annual line check, you may change or update the date of your last Line Check under your profile. You can also tag a particular flight as Line Check in flight details.

MyStack

What is a MyStack?

Stacks are flights filtered and grouped based on specified parameters, such as aircraft category or class, pilot role, city pair, and much more. You can conveniently track the total of a particular Stack from the flight deck by selecting MyStack when setting up the stack.
