FlightGauge, in its core feature, AutoFlight, relies on your location and motion data to detect and identify flights. We understand that you trust us to keep your information safe while using this app. For complete transparency, let us explain the data we collect, why, and how it is used.

Logbook

Flights
Device NameFlights detected using AutoFlight are stored with the Device Name to identify and differentiate duplicate flights.
Imported Data (Optional)Imported flights from external sources (other logbooks, company documents, etc.). Imported data is limited to flight information only, and no personal information is used or stored.

Location Data

AutoFlight
Intermittent GPS LocationLocation data is used locally on the device only to find nearby airports. The data is stored on the device until a flight is detected. It is then logged as a flight record
Intermittent Motion DataTo conserve battery, the motion data is used locally on the device only to trigger a location query based on motion event.

Tracking

We do not keep a permanent record or transmit location-tracking information from the device. When the app detects a flight in progress, a flight track obtained from the location information is visible on the FlightDeck. This is stored locally in the device's memory until the next flight.
