Privacy
FlightGauge, in its core feature, AutoFlight, relies on your location and motion data to detect and identify flights. We understand that you trust us to keep your information safe while using this app. For complete transparency, let us explain the data we collect, why, and how it is used.
Data collection
Personal
Profile | |
---|---|
Name | First and last name. Used to identify you for support purposes. |
Email Address | Used for user authentication, communication, and support. |
Carrier | Knowing the air carrier you fly for helps us identify and find the correct flight information from our data provider. |
Seat | This is used to assign PIC/SIC time. |
Home Base | This shows the latest METAR at your base or domicile airport and helps the app identify a possible commuting flight. |
Commuter Home (Optional) | This is used to identify a possible commute between the Commuter Home and Home Base to prevent a flight from being logged in error. |
Medical Date (Optional) | Selecting the date of your most recent aeromedical exam allows the app to display the days remaining on the flight deck and prevent a possible lapse. |
Line Check Date (Optional) | Selecting the date of your most recent line check allows the app to display the days remaining on the flight deck and prevent a possible lapse. |
Logbook
Flights | |
---|---|
Device Name | Flights detected using AutoFlight are stored with the Device Name to identify and differentiate duplicate flights. |
Imported Data (Optional) | Imported flights from external sources (other logbooks, company documents, etc.). Imported data is limited to flight information only, and no personal information is used or stored. |
Location Data
AutoFlight | |
---|---|
Intermittent GPS Location | Location data is used locally on the device only to find nearby airports. The data is stored on the device until a flight is detected. It is then logged as a flight record |
Intermittent Motion Data | To conserve battery, the motion data is used locally on the device only to trigger a location query based on motion event. |
Tracking
We do not keep a permanent record or transmit location-tracking information from the device. When the app detects a flight in progress, a flight track obtained from the location information is visible on the FlightDeck. This is stored locally in the device's memory until the next flight.
